Let me make it up to you with this one:
This is Saint George's, where we attended church in Hawaii. I loved that church of course mainly because of the people, but also because of this:
The sides crank open! How can you not love that?
Also:
This is the air traffic control tower on Ford Island. Ford Island is the most amazing place; half of it was nearly untouched from the WWII-era when we were there. The plan was to turn this into a Pearl Harbor attack museum, but I wasn't there long enough to see it come to fruition.
One more:
This of course is the Arizona memorial; the photo was taken from the bridge to Ford Island.

I would love to visit Hawaii! It looks so peaceful there! -Nia
The red and white striped part of the tower was added after the attack. It was actually a training facility for training divers.
Much of Ford Island is still untouched, although the Pacific Aviation Museum is there. Sadly, it seems like their timetable for building has fallen behind.
I'd have loved to have had the chance to walk around Ford Island and look at the hangers, ramps, and other untouched facilities. Many of them still have bullet holes and blast damage.
If I ever get back, I'm going to try to get permission to do that.
That's a beautiful picture of the Arizona Memorial, too.
