Maybe there's something to this...

I belong to a group on Facebook called "If Breastfeeding Offends You, Put a Blanket Over YOUR Head!"  This in reaction to the common plaint that nursing mothers should cover their babies with blankets.  (In all honesty, I've done this twice--and both times got to listen to snide remarks about what I was doing under there.  My experience is that it makes nursing much more conspicuous than it would be otherwise; nevertheless that's not my point here.)

In the Doonesbury cartoon my baby linked to Saturday, the girl lumped mothers "openly nursing" with rude and loud people as folks Starbucks doesn't tolerate (and, really, I  have no idea how Starbucks reacts to nursing moms--I feel about Starbucks the same way most lefties feel about Wal-Mart, and avoid it as much as I can).  I joked to Erik that what we need is a bunch of open-carrying moms nursing their babies in Starbucks...

But maybe there's something to it.  Maybe those who open-carry can take a card from nursing moms, and when bugged about what they're doing, offer the dolt who's taken offense a blanket to put over his/her head.

After all, the sentiment--Must you do that here?--really isn't all that different between the two issues.

I don't like coffee and even if I did, I wouldn't be crazy enough to pay $5 for a cup from Starbucks. However, I'm surprised and impressed by them in the whole open carry thing. Can't believe they actually are on the right side on the issue.

I thought it was hilarious.

Put it this way Sabra!

I and a whole bunch of my older Vietnam Vet friends deplore Jane Fonda's actions during that war. We still are offended by her politics.

Doesn't mean we won't mob the TV when Barbarella shows up.
