The Toshiba is kaput. I'd like to say it served long and well, but...It didn't. It served like a far-left Democrat: only when forced to. It also overheated frequently, which tempts me toward Harry Reid comparisons.
The final straw came shortly before Spring Break, when it began turning itself off randomly. Then it would refuse to turn on. Now, I can push the power button and it will power up partway and then turn off...and then power up partway and then turn off...and then...well, you get the idea.
I could get it fixed, but you'll remember that this is far from my first set o' problems with that laptop. So, armed with part of my Spring student loan, I waltzed in to Best Buy this afternoon and walked out with a Compaq Presario for $400.04.
I'm back. And the old computer is now a fair target.

.45 Automatic. 9mm will just piss it off. ;-)
My Foshiba did the exact same thing. But I spent all my spring financial aid money on a car, so I can't exactly buy a new one.
Sad face. Congrats on the new digs!
Yeah, the bulk of Fall's student loan is going into a car. I need to find something that can seat a minimum of six...
Computers tend to be fairly solid. Best to use shotgun slugs on it.
Mommy with a minivan! Or a Suburban...
I had this problem with my old Toshiba at one point and bought a new computer. After awhile I took apart the Toshiba and put new thermal compound between the CPU and heat sink, then blew all the gunk out of the case. It worked fine after that.
