It just occurred to me

Here in the great State of Texas, I can vote a straight Libertarian ticket if I so desire.  What I cannot do is vote in a Libertarian primary--only Republican or Democrat.

Which brings up the obvious question: How do the Libertarians select their general election candidates?  Compare pelts?  An Ayn Rand quote-off?  See who scores closer in Six Degrees of Separation from Tam?

Assuming this is a serious question, the answer is, they don't do it by spending tax dollars on an election.

has a story about the selection, light on substance, though. Basically, it starts at the local level selecting delegates for the state convention, where the candidates are selected.

(I used to be a card-carrying member of the LP and I don't really know how they do it either.)
