Sunday Morning Guilty Pleasure pt 2

Unlike my husband, I don't claim any sort of variety to my musical interests.  While I don't dislike but a few types of music, and will even admit to an enduring fondness for the MoTown sound, by & large when I listen to music I want to be listening to country music.

But I do have a fondness for some rock music, especially late '90s-early '00s alternative rock (which, if Wikipedia is to be believed, can also be called post-grunge).  And I do use 'alternative' lightly in this case--it's really only an alternative to pop music--commercial as hell, or maybe I was just listening to the right radio stations.  Either way, it wasn't something I had to seek out--musically, I'm pretty lazy.

Everclear has released a lot of good songs over the years--a particular favorite is the raw "Father of Mine", a call-out of the lead singer's disappearing dad.

But this is about guilty pleasures, and there's no guilt to liking a song that good.  (Seriously, if you happen to be unfamiliar with Everclear, ignore what I'm about to embed in lieu of clicking that link, or you will get a skewed idea of the band.)  Also, if you are a huge Van Morrison fan, you might want to look away now.

Still with me?  Good.  This is a cover of "Brown-Eyed Girl."  Only, it's a rock cover.  With framing lyrics, making it a song-within-a-song.  Also, the video is silly.  But Alexakis's vocals are as good as they always are.  It's a band I like the sound of doing a song I've always vaguely liked, and the result is enjoyable.  Unless, again, you expect Van Morrison.  'Cause that ain't happening.

LMAO. I might claim diverse tastes, but these days that really boils down to classic country & heavy metal, and I know there are a LOT more kinds of music out there.

And that cover can't be as bad as Marilyn Manson's "Tainted Love"...

I like me some Van Morrison, but that was pretty cute (ending gets double cute points).

Wonder if they have a cover for Tupelo Honey?
